A Walk In The Park is a new pop-up festival concept on the Swedish market - setting its premiere sights on the summer of 2016. On 3 separate dates during the summer - the festival will take place in three of Sweden’s most flourishing parks. They asked for a website, a visual identity and content - in just about 48 hours.
"A Walk In The Park has cooperated with Hyper Island student Gustav von Platen and the Los Angeles-based artist Kii Arens who has worked with giants like Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift and super festival Coachella.”
The festival is hosted by 4 of Swedens biggest music- and event companies (Paraply Produktion, Welcome Concerts, The Tivoli and United Stage). And it had to be approved by all of them. I quickly decided to launch the website with Squarespace. A couple of phonecalls and wireframes later everything was approved and I was ready to start with the details.
Here's a screenshot of a sketch.
The artist Kii Arens provided me with a poster, asking me to create a visual identity from it.
Taking inspiration from the colors and shapes of the poster, I created backgrounds which communicate the feeling A Walk In The Park wants to give:
"The sun is glowing in the horizon. The sweater you've brought with you is loosely tied around your waist - just in case. And it never really gets dark outside. A little chilly, at worst. And that exotic, southern vacation you were dreaming of, just months ago? It just doesn’t feel as important anymore.”
I created long scale backgrounds that seamlessly blend together for a great experience on all devices.
Playful illustrations for each city, bringing out it's individual characteristic.
3000 tickets sold in just 24 hours after launch.
…and just 3 weeks after, the total Facebook event attendee count was up at close to 9000.
